Clifton's fourth beach has proved to be the most popular site for beach trading, judging by the number of applications submitted to the City of Cape Town.
A team of City officials has just finalised the adjudication of over 400 applications for beach trading permits after the City approved the Informal Beach Trading Policy in August this year.
"There are 247 identified trading sites along the coastline from Blaauwberg in the west through Milnerton, Sea Point, Camps Bay to Macassar and Bikini Beach in Gordons Bay. These were divided into various categories such as fixed sites, roving sites, mobile sites and rent or hire sites where products and services were considered such as ice cream, cold drinks, food and beverages, deck chairs and umbrellas, massage, as well as kayaks and canoes," says Shehaam Sims, Director of Community Facilities.
